Amazon KDP

If I’m being honest, setting up an Amazon KDP account was not fun.

The first problem I had was trying to set it up under my cindy@cindyfolkauthor.com email. It is tied to gmail through cindyfolkauthor@gmail.com in a way that I’ve never understood. When Amazon sent the one-time code to confirm the account, there was a big delay so that the process would time out before I could confirm the account set up. Once I figured out that I should set it up under cindyfolkauthor@gmail.com, it worked like a charm.

The second fun part was filling out the taxation information. Legalese combined with, you better answer this correctly or we might throw you in jail, is always fun to deal with. Thankfully my super-smart husband gave me a second opinion on my answers so I should be okay.

From there on, it was smooth sailing. I had reviewed Shayla Raquel’s how-to videos on what was required in terms of metadata and uploading the files. The print preview quality check didn’t find any issues, which was super awesome, and a quick review confirmed that everything looked as it should. I clicked the Approve button so that I could order that all-important proof copy.

BUT here I found the final snag. It wouldn’t let me ship the proof copy to Canada. Ugh. The set-up is done on Amazon.com and I am guessing they don’t allow you to purchase from the Canadian site until it is published which I don’t want to do without reviewing the hard copy.

SO, I got in touch with one of my amazing sisters-in-law that live in the States and will ship it to her so that she can send it to me.

Hooo boy!! Where there’s a will, there’s a way.

I have shared screenshots of some of the steps of this process on Instagram. Click here if you would like to see them.
