Literary Devices

Did your eyes glaze over at the words literary devices?

Mine did too. I get it.

But this definition piqued my interest.

"Literary devices are ways of taking writing beyond its straightforward, literal meaning." writers.com

When I read that, I thought, interesting . . .

Writing beyond the most literal meaning is what deepens a story, what makes it interesting.

Popular literary devices include: metaphor, simile, imagery, symbolism, personification, hyperbole, juxtaposition, paradox, allusion, ekphrasis, onomatopoeia, and pun.

From May 30 - June 3, I am hosting a writing retreat to explore these literary devices and learn how they can enhance your novel or create a foundation for your manuscript. As you complete the exercises, you can access a badge that you can post on social media or keep for yourself.
