How Do You Write a Novel?

Writing a novel is not hard, it just takes time.

It also requires some inspiration, a goal, a deadline, and a good attitude.

The National Novel Writing Month is how I started writing my novel Northern Escape and I would recommend it to anyone. NaNoWriMo challenges people to write 50,000 words in the month of November (but you could challenge yourself to do it at anytime).

This year they have created and shared the Nano Prep 101 Course. It contains worksheets and suggestions on how to come up with a story idea that excites you, how to create characters that will come to life, how to plan a detailed plot or outline, how to build a strong world for your characters, tips on how to organize your life to support your writing goals, and suggestions on how to find, schedule, and manage your time.

These suggestions aren’t complicated or overly time-consuming but they will give you the tools to create a story that is well-timed, has depth, and one that you will enjoy immersing yourself in as you write.

Take a look, it may just start you on a life-changing journey as it did for me!

(And let me know what you think!)
