Goodreads Reviews
Goodreads is a subsidiary of Amazon that provides readers with a database of books and reviews from fellow readers. Authors can set up an Author Profile even before their book is published if they set it up on pre-order through Amazon. By doing this, they can start accruing reviews from ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) readers before their book is published. This is a bonus since most retail sites will not allow readers to leave reviews until release day.
Tip: You will need to decide whether reviews or rankings are more important in your mind. Pre-orders are reassuring, but they result in lower sales during launch week and impact your Amazon rankings.
Through your Author Profile, you can:
set up your Author Bio
list your book
set up links to your website and social media accounts
identify your genre
turn on the Ask the Author Q&A section to promote interaction
Almost one month after my book launch, I posted the following on Facebook and Instagram.
Would you be willing to leave a review for Northern Escape?
Reviews will encourage a stranger to take a chance on reading it.
To make it easier, I’ve provided a link to where you can leave a review on Amazon or Goodreads.
Amazon: https://www.amazon.ca/review/create-review/?channel=awUDPv3&asin=1777523109&ie=UTF8&
Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/58383034
Remember, a review can be as simple as saying, “I loved it!”
Thanks so much.
