Which Is Harder to Write, the First or the Second Book?

I've heard writers say that writing the second book is more challenging. I disagree; in my experience, working on the second book has been much more enjoyable.

As I write River Retreat, I find myself thinking Oh, they are going like this part!

My confidence has soared.

I have more experience, and the familiarity has made the process more comfortable.

I learned a lot when working with my editor on Northern Escape, so I know my book will be in much better shape when I take it to an editor this time.

I want to remind you that I did not have a writing background when I started. I just thoroughly enjoy writing. And the more I did it, the easier it became to call myself a writer.

If I can do it, so can you. If you are sitting on the fence, it might be time to jump off and get started.
