Reedsy
It was August 2020 when I happened across a book called The 10 Commandments of Author Branding, and through it, my editor. There was something about her no-nonsense attitude that instilled trust. With her help, I found my cover designer and interior formatter.
Unfortunately, my editor, just this week, sent out an email letting us know that she would be putting her energies into other projects. Editing will no longer be one of the services provided.
As I had planned to work with Shayla on my second and third book, this is a concern. I enjoyed working with her. She met her deadlines, provided excellent feedback, never ever made me feel insecure about my writing, and, most importantly, the words in my book were mine and the story still sounded like me.
However, because Northern Escape maintained my voice, I believe it will be the same with the sequel River Retreat, regardless of the editor.
In looking for a cover designer and interior formatter for Sharon, I discovered an article that explained Reedsy. It was written by Dave Chesson, a trusted source.
"Currently, there are over 150,000 authors who are using the platform. However, unlike most other freelancer platforms, every freelancer who receives an account is vetted by the Reedsy team to verify they perform their service at the highest level quality." —Dave Chesson
Sharon and I explored Reedsy and settled on a cover designer and interior formatter that we will be meeting with on February 2nd. I look forward to this step in Sharon's self-publishing journey.
So when I received the email from my editor saying she wouldn't be available to work on my next book, I decided to log into Reedsy and search on Developmental Editing, Copy Editing, Action & Adventure, and Canada—because the exchange rate with the US is a killer on the budget—and I found a women by the name of 'Janet G' with excellent reviews. She doesn't know yet, but I will be contacting her to see if she is a fit to edit my next book!
