Reason to Write #4: You Feel Stuck and Want to Get Unstuck

If I have a problem to deal with—big or small—getting my thoughts out of my head and onto paper helps. The act of writing can help me work through it.

It can help in bigger ways too.

At times you may feel stuck. You may not be happy with your school, work, or home life. Writing provides a way to escape to another place for a little while. It is a healthy way to handle or manage the situation. Life’s pains bring out real emotions. Write about them—others will be able to relate. You may even want to incorporate those thoughts and emotions into a story, whether it be a fictional one or more autobiographical ones.

In this way, feeling stuck might give you the fuel you need to start a project that gets you unstuck and moving forward again. It might even get you moving in another direction altogether.
